Australian Scholarships for Nepali Students

Every year, both the Australian government and universities provide scholarships worth millions in AUD. But students from Nepal are not aware of those scholarships. So they are compelled to pay the full fees despite being eligible for those grants.

Different Types of Australian Scholarships

Australian Scholarships can be divided into two major categories:

  • Scholarships Provided by Government
  • Scholarships Provided by University

Below here is a list of different scholarships for students from Nepal. It also contains information about scholarships amount, eligibility, provider, and opening date for each of the following Australian scholarships.


1. Nepal Bursary

Provider: The scholarship is provided by the University of Wollongong (New South Wales, Australia).

Study Area:

  • It is applicable for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the field of Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Education, Public Health, Arts, Communicatio, and Media.
  • However, it is not applicable for courses in the field of Nursing, Psychology, Nutrition, and Dietetics.

Benefits:

  • 10% fee reduction on the Bachelor Courses
  • 20% fee reduction on the Master Courses.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Students should hold Nepali citizenship during the time of application.
  • Shouldn’t have received other scholarships from the university.
  • Students should have an offer letter from the university in one of the eligible courses.

Application Procedure: No additional application is required for this scholarship. If you have applied for one of the above-mentioned courses, you will be automatically considered for the university.


2. Diplomat Scholarships

Provider: The scholarship is provided by the University of Wollongong (New South Wales, Australia).

Study Area: It is applicable for almost all undergraduate courses. Unfortunately, it is not available for the courses in the field of Nursing, Education, Psychology, Nutrition and Dietetics, Exercise Science, and Rehabilitation.

Benefits: 30% reduction of the Tuition Fee

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Enrolled in University of Wollongong for any of the undergraduate course except mentioned above
  • Must be International Students
  • Excellence Academic result in class 12, bachelor, or diploma  in related field
  • Should not have received any other scholarships
  • Must hold Australian Diplomat Visa 955

Application Procedure: You don’t have to apply for this scholarship. You will directly be considered for this scholarship.


3. Deakin College Nepal Excellence Scholarships

Provider: The scholarship is provided by Deakin College.

Study Area: It is applicable for undergraduate courses in the field of Mathematical, Computer Science, Business, Administrative Studies, Architecture, Building, and Planning.

Benefits: 10-15% reduction of tuition fee

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a Nepali citizen.
  • Should not have received any scholarship.
  • Must be a high-achieving student.

Application Procedure: You don’t have to apply for this scholarship. You will be considered automatically when you are enrolled in one of the courses.


4. Macquarie University South Asian Scholarship

Provider: The scholarship is provided by Macquarie University (Sydney, Australia).

Study Area: It is applicable for all undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Benefits: The total worth of the scholarship is 10,000 AUD per year for the duration of bachelor or master courses.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Should meet the English Language and Academic Requirement to be admitted to Macquarie University.
  • Must be accepted into Macquarie University.
  • Must be a citizen of Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, or Srilanka

5. Business School International Scholarship

Provider: The scholarship is provided by The University of Sydney (Sydney, Australia).

Study Area: It is applicable for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Benefits: Two scholarships are provided in this category.

  • AUD 5000 for one semester or,
  • AUD 10,000 for one semester

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be an international student
  • Must be enrolled in any of the course at the University of Sydney Business School except MBA or EMBA

Application Procedure: You can apply for the scholarship through the Business School International Scholarship Form. However, you must have applied for admission to a Business school course.


6. Faculty of Law Masters International Scholarship

Provider: The scholarship is provided by Monash University (Melbourne, Victoria, Australia).

Study Area: It is only applicable for master courses in the field of Law.

Benefits: The total value of this scholarship is AUD 20,000.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be an international student.
  • Enrolled in Master’s degree in the field of Law.
  • Must have outstanding achievement in previous academics.
  • You can retain this scholarship by maintaining a 60% credit average or more in each semester.

7. MBA Students Scholarship

Provider: The scholarship is provided by The University of Queensland (Brisbane, Australia).

Study Area: It is applicable for postgraduate courses in the field of Business and Economics.

Benefits: 25% fee reduction

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be an international student.
  • Must meet all the entry requirements to be enrolled in the MBA program.

  • Must be an international student.
  • Must have excellent academic records.

9. Australian Awards

Provider: The Australian Awards scholarship is a government-funded scholarship. It is administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Australia.

Area of Study: The study areas for this scholarship are: Economic Development, Education, Health, Water Resource Management, Governance, and Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion.

Nepali students are eligible for this scholarship to take full-time undergraduate or postgraduate courses in one of the participating institutes.

  • Travel Ticket to and from Australia

Opening Date: For Nepali students, the Australian awards scholarship opens on 1 February and closes on 31 May of every year.

10. Destination Australia

Provider: The scholarship is provided by the Australian Government.

Study Area: It is applicable for both undergraduate or postgraduate courses.

Benefits: AUD 15,000 per student per year.

Eligibility Requirements

  • You must meet the entry requirement for the course of your choice.
  • There is no additional requirement.

Application Procedure: The scholarship is provided by most of the Australian institutes. You can apply for the scholarship directly through the institute.

This scholarship is provided by most of the Australian universities. The value of the scholarship is different for different universities.
